Earth, Us and We!

Earth and Us are not seperate. We all have to have Earth elements in us to be able to lead a healthy balanced life.

Until we do not recognise Earth & Us as We, we will not be mindful of it, as much as we are about ourselves. We humans have single handedly brought it to suicidal levels of depravity, and if we dont  take a total U turn vis-a-vis our relationship with our planet, than much bigger calamities then Covid are knocking at our doors..!

We humans, supposedly the most intelligent and evolved species on our planet - have mindlessly plundered our only home, leading to extinction of hundreds of species by encroaching into their habitats in our pursuit of more-and-more developed space for our foolish pursuits.

We have totally dis-balanced the food chain, where increasingly more resources in terms of fertile land, water and labour is being used for producing feed for the livestock to cater to the pallete of some of us, while fellow human beings   are not able to manage two square meals in a day.

We have self-obsessedly developed such fashions and tastes - devouring the survivalist resource like water, while fellow humans beings and other species continue to die of thirst!

We have relentlessly spewed poison into our air, and still shirk taking any responsibility and action needed to leave our planet for our future generations, as bountiful as we received from our ancestors!

Economic disparity is causing immeasurable misery and challenges to the planet too. Where haves continue to create more and more luxury and comfort for themselves, thus not only damaging our eco-system, but also pushing the have-nots to deeper levels of anguish and sadness!

Instead of the power-struggle that some nations and societies continue to indulge in, our one and only goal should be to pool all our resources, join all our hearts, hands and minds to get a hold on the downslide of our planet.

Protecting our bio-diversity should be the single most thought in all our actions. Living a more sustainable life is no more a choice for us to exercise, but a compulsion for survival of our planet!

Only if our planet remains bountiful and healthy, we have a fair chance to live healthily and happily! If not, we are doomed!

Our Planet, and human consciousness!

After bringing the planet to a state of depravity, can we humans not develop the consciousness to do this simple act for our only home, our bountiful planet... Is this asking for too much..?! 🌱🌍🌳

We spend our lives and resources to bring up and nurture our children to the best of our ability, is this also not equally important, to be able to leave them a planet of abundance, and not of depravity..?!..🤔

We are also responsible for endangering all other co-inhabitants of our planet, don't we all owe it to them too, and specially when we know that they are being driven to extinction due to our unsustainable ways of life...?!..🤔

How long can we keep fooling ourselves, and keep living with a ill-conceived sense of entitlement..?!..🤔

We the humans - supposedly the super-intelligent species on this planet - like the proverbial fool,  how can we keep cutting the very branch on which our existence is totally dependent?.... Can we be so myopic and foolish..?!🤔

We - the people of India

We - the people of India, have perhaps ingrained our sense of "Rights" from the 800 years of our oppression and occupation. It was perhaps unavoidable, and most natural thing to happen contextually!

But sadly, our sense of "Duty" has been totally lost somewhere en-route!

While actually, if one gets to think about it, for developing a responsible society, duties should always precede rights!

Don't you think, if each one of us, lived up to our duties, than all the rights of each one of us would automatically get taken care of!

How many of us are aware that there are 11 Fundamental duties listed in our Constitution under Article 51 Part 4A?

The fundamental duties noted in the constitution are as below.

It  shall  be the  duty  of  every  citizen of  India, to :

S.No11 Fundamental Duties
1.Abide by the Indian Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions, the National Flag and the National Anthem
2.Cherish and follow the noble ideals that inspired the national struggle for freedom
3. Uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India
4.Defend the country and render national service when called upon to do so
5.Promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people of India transcending religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities and to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women
6.Value and preserve the rich heritage of the country’s composite culture
7.Protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife and to have compassion for living creatures
8. Develop scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform
9.Safeguard public property and to abjure violence
10.Strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavour and achievement
11. Provide opportunities for education to his child or ward between the age of six and fourteen years. This duty was added by the 86th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2002
If only we were half as aware about these duties, as we are about our rights, than we would be today in a much better position as an individual, as a society, and consequently as a nation.

We Indians truly need to imbibe these duties in our daily lives, as an offering of gratitude to all those brave-hearts who made the supreme sacrifices during our freedom struggle, so that we all could breathe in the air of freedom, and make a nation of their dreams, for which they laid down their lives.

I hope this injects some introspection in all of us?

We - the people of India - Let us all pledge to live up to above duties, and determine to regain the lost glory of a great nation that we are citizens of!

Jai Hind ... Jai Bharat.
